Yes, you can use DaVinci Resolve offline for editing, grading, and exporting projects. However, some features may require internet at least once, such as initial installation, activation/login, and downloading optional components. If you want a smooth offline workflow, plan ahead by installing everything you need while you have connectivity. Below are practical steps to set up an offline-ready workflow and avoid common issues.1) Install and set up while you have internetBefore going offline, make sure you complete the following:Download and install the full DaVinci Resolve installer.Install the required GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel) and reboot if the installer requests it.Run DaVinci Resolve once online so it can finish any first-time setup steps.Download any optional content you plan to use (for example, sample media, effects packs, or additional templates) while online.2) Use DaVinci Resolve offline for editing and exportingOnce installed, DaVinci Resolve can typically be used offline for:Importing media from local drives or external SSD/HDD.Editing timelines, color grading, audio mixing, and rendering.Exporting to common formats (H.264/H.265/ProRes/DNxHR depending on your setup).Tip: Keep your media locally. Offline workflows are most reliable when all clips, LUTs, and project assets are already on your machine.3) Avoid features that require network accessSome capabilities may try to reach online services. If you are fully offline, you may see prompts or limited functionality. Common examples include:Any feature that depends on cloud services or online assets.Online activation/verification steps if you haven’t completed them before disconnecting.Downloading new effects/templates from online sources. If you encounter an internet-related prompt, you can usually continue working locally, but you may need to disable the feature or complete the required step while online.4) Keep your project self-containedTo make sure your project works offline without missing files:Use “Media Management” to consolidate media into a project folder (when available in your version).Store LUTs, titles, and custom assets inside your project directory.Back up the full project folder to an external drive.5) Render/export offline (best practices)Rendering and exporting should work offline as long as your media and project settings are local. For reliability:Export to a local drive with enough free space.Close other heavy apps to reduce render interruptions.Test-export a short segment first, then run a full export.6) If you need help: check the official documentationIf you tell me your OS (Windows/macOS/Linux) and whether you use the free or Studio version, I can tailor the offline setup steps.
